2021 – 2022 Chevrolet Malibu Comparison

2022 Chevy Malibu

2022 Chevrolet Malibu vs. 2021 Chevrolet Malibu

The Malibu has been a reliable entry to the sedan market for many years, providing a readily accessible and dependable option for Denver Metro customers. With the 2022 Chevy Malibu, the brand has removed the previous baseline L trim from the lineup. This makes the LS trim the new base option for the quality sedan. Other than this change, Chevrolet has kept the lineup virtually identical to keep with the consistency that has been a trademark of the brand. Fans of previous Malibu model years will find the familiarity of the 2022 version to be a welcome feel to their daily Colorado adventures.

Performance

Bringing back the standard turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder engine for the 2022 model year, 163 horsepower feels vibrant thanks to the lightweight nature of the sedan. The Continuously Variable Transmission that is paired with the engine continues to deliver seamless acceleration for the enjoyable ride that Denver Metro drivers have come to know and love. For even greater levels of performance, the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine on the Premier trim level is also brought back from the 2021 model year. This powertrain delivers 250 horsepower for thrilling acceleration. FWD is the only drivetrain available on the 2022 Malibu just like the 2021 model year of the sedan.

Interior Features

Continuing to cater to the modern needs of the Denver Metro driving community, the interior of the 2022 Malibu provides plenty of content to appeal to any driver’s preference. This is especially true with the various infotainment packages available for passengers to enjoy across the range of 2022 Malibu sedans. Starting with the standard Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System, Bluetooth® and wireless connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard for modern convenience any passenger will appreciate. The eight-inch touchscreen provides quick access to the various media outlets available on the system. Select trims of the 2022 Malibu get the benefit of the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus system. Not only does this upgrade provide an HD display, but the system also houses integrated navigation. Every version of the 2022 Chevy Malibu gets the integrated Wi-Fi® hotspot from the 2021 model year.

Safety Features

Driver-assistive technology is another great selection of features that have been carried over from the 2021 Malibu to the 2022 version of the sedan. StabiliTrak is Chevrolet’s innovative fusion of Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control to give the Malibu a stable platform during any maneuver. Further supplementation to the package can be added through modern features such as Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking. If a more enjoyable and less tiring experience on the highway is desired, the Adaptive Cruise Control is available on the top-end Premier trim level.
