2021 – 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Comparison

2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Pickup Truck

2022 Chevrolet Silverado vs. 2021 Chevrolet Silverado

When Colorado drivers think about a pickup truck that is both powerful and dependable, the Silverado family quickly comes to mind. Many generations have trusted the Silverado to tackle the most demanding everyday hauling and towing tasks that drivers have to undertake. This attention to superior detail has been extended with the redesign and upgrades present in the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While still just as diverse as the 2021 version of the pickup truck family, the 2022 model year has been given welcome additions and alterations to help keep it at the leading edge of the Colorado pickup truck market.

Performance

While all engines from the 2021 model year Silverado 1500 make their return to the 2022 versions of the pickup truck, they have been given even more to work with. For example, the baseline 2.7L turbocharged inline-four engine goes from 285 horsepower in 2021 to 310 in 2022. The torque has also been increased to 430 lb.-ft so that the baseline Silverado 1500 is even more capable of towing or hauling large loads with ease. Not only does the baseline powertrain see an improvement in performance, but the efficiency of the truck has also been elevated. From the 16 MPG city/21 MPG highway fuel economy of the 2021 Silverado 1500 to the 19 MPG city/22 MPG highway fuel economy of the 2022 version, Denver Metro drivers will appreciate the more powerful and efficient standard engine that serves as a strong entry point to the rest of the powertrain lineup.

Exterior & Interior Features

New to the 2022 family of Chevy Silverado 1500 pickups is a completely redesigned front end. This gives the Silverado a distinct appearance when cruising around town that even differentiates itself from previous model years of the legendary model. Additionally, starting with the LT trim level and going up, the interior has also been given a refreshed appearance. Not only have these versions of the pickup been modernized with new designs, but the materials used in the construction of the cabin have also been upgraded for a more premium feel. These upper-level trims have also been given a larger 13.4-inch touchscreen display for incredibly easy navigation of all available entertainment and convenience applications installed in the infotainment system.

Safety Features

Chevrolet has provided plenty of driver-assistive technology standard to the baseline 2022 Silverado 1500 to continue enhancing the versatile and dynamic pickup truck that Colorado customers have come to know and love. With Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking equipped, the road in front of the pickup is well-monitored to improve overall safety. Similar levels of protection are present for the rear of the vehicle with the combination of Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. For a truly innovative bit of technology that will make any highway drive much more appealing, the deluxe High Country trim level comes equipped with the Super Cruise system. This version of hands-free Adaptive Cruise Control has been designed to operate even when towing a trailer behind the truck.
