The least expensive Trax with heated seats is an LS with the $995 LS Convenience Package ($24,490 with destination), which also adds remote start and heated mirrors. A power sunroof package ($795 to $895) adds wireless charging on the LT, 2RS and ACTIV.

Does the Chevy Trax Have AWD?

No. Every 2026 Trax is front-wheel drive, and Chevrolet says the 2027 Trax will be FWD on every model as well. If AWD matters for Colorado winters or mountain trips, the Chevy Trailblazer offers AWD on every trim, from $25,600 (plus $1,795 destination) for the 2026 LS AWD. The Chevy Equinox offers AWD on every trim too.

If you choose a Trax for Front Range driving, consider a set of winter tires for snow and ice.

Engine and Fuel Economy

Every 2026 Trax uses a 1.2L turbo 3-cylinder rated at 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic. Chevrolet publishes an EPA-estimated 28 mpg city, 32 highway and 30 combined. It runs on regular 87-octane gas and is E85-compatible. Automatic Stop/Start is standard.

The Trax is not rated to tow. For light towing, see our Chevy towing capacity chart.

Seating and Cargo Space

The Trax seats five, with 38.7 inches of rear legroom and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. Cargo space is 25.6 cu ft behind the rear seat and 54.1 cu ft with it folded. It is 178.6 inches long, about 4.5 inches longer than the Trailblazer, with 7.3 inches of ground clearance.

Blind-zone alerts, rear cross traffic alerts and rear parking sensors come with the available Driver Confidence Package.

Colors. 2026 Trax colors are Summit White, Mosaic Black Metallic, Sterling Gray Metallic, Marina Blue Metallic ($395), Apex Red (not on ACTIV), Cypress Gray (LS and LT), White Sands (1RS, 2RS and ACTIV) and Cacti Green (ACTIV only).

Trax or Trailblazer?

Both are small Chevy SUVs. The 2026 Trax costs less to start ($21,700 vs $23,600 for a FWD Trailblazer) and is longer and wider, while the Trailblazer has slightly more rear legroom (39.0 vs 38.7 inches). The Trailblazer is taller, offers AWD on every trim and can tow up to 1,000 lbs with the available Trailering Package. If you never need AWD or a hitch, the Trax is the value pick; if you do, look at the Trailblazer.

The 2027 Trax: What’s Coming

Chevrolet has announced a redesigned 2027 Trax that it says will arrive in spring 2027, with pricing announced then. Chevrolet lists three models (LT, RS and ACTIV), a new exterior design, an 11.3-inch touchscreen with Google built-in and Google Gemini (service plan required), an 11-inch driver display, multiple drive modes and more than 20 standard safety and driver assistance features. It will stay FWD on every model. Until then, the 2026 Trax is the newest Trax on sale, and it carries current Chevrolet offers.
