The Matchup: Value and Efficiency vs Space and Trail Gear

Honda’s 2027 Passport arrived at dealers on September 29, 2026, with a re-engineered, lifted TrailSport. Chevrolet has not announced a 2027 gas Blazer, so the 2026 is the newest Blazer on sale.

Every Passport has a 280-hp 3.5L V6, a 10-speed automatic and torque-vectoring AWD. The Blazer comes standard with a 228-hp 2.0L turbo and FWD, and the RS offers a 308-hp 3.6L V6. Every Blazer uses a 9-speed automatic, and AWD is available on all trims.

The two are nearly the same length (191.8 vs 191.5 in.), but the boxier Passport holds much more: 44.0 vs 30.5 cu ft behind the rear seat and 83.8 vs 64.2 with it folded. The Passport also has a little more rear legroom (40.9 vs 39.6 in.).

The Blazer has Chevy Safety Assist plus Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Park Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert as standard, with Adaptive Cruise Control available through packages. Neither offers hands-free driving, and NHTSA rates the 2026 Blazer and the 2027 Passport RTL five stars overall.

The Bottom Line

If you need maximum cargo space, 5,000-lb towing or real trail capability, the Passport earns its higher price. If you want a sporty two-row SUV that costs thousands less with the 2.0L turbo and gets better fuel economy, the Blazer is the smarter buy. The 308-hp V6 Blazer RS starts at $45,250 (FWD) or $47,500 (AWD), close to the Passport’s $45,195.
