The V6 is offered only on the RS. It adds $1,000 to an RS AWD ($47,500) and $1,650 to an RS FWD ($45,250), a figure that includes the $650 trailering equipment the V6 requires on FWD. The Premier trim was dropped for 2026.

Engines and Fuel Economy

Engine Power Availability EPA mpg, FWD / AWD (city/hwy/combined)
2.0L turbo 4-cylinder 228 hp / 258 lb-ft Standard on 2LT, 3LT and RS 22/29/25 / 22/27/24
3.6L V6 308 hp / 270 lb-ft Available on RS only 19/26/22 / 18/25/21

Sources: chevrolet.com Build & Price and fueleconomy.gov (2026 models). Both engines use a 9-speed automatic and run on regular fuel.

The 2.0L turbo makes its 258 lb-ft from 1,500 rpm, which suits Denver traffic and mountain grades, and it is the efficiency pick at up to 25 mpg combined. An RS with AWD gets Chevrolet’s twin-clutch AWD system, which can send torque to either rear wheel, and every AWD Blazer has an Off-Road drive mode.

Blazer Towing Capacity

The Blazer tows up to 4,500 lbs with the RS’s available 3.6L V6 and trailering equipment. With the 2.0L turbo, the rating depends on the trailering equipment, which is standard on every AWD Blazer and a $650 option on the FWD 2LT and 3LT.

Configuration Max towing
2.0L turbo, FWD, without trailering equipment 1,500 lbs
2.0L turbo with trailering equipment (standard on AWD) 3,250 lbs
RS with 3.6L V6 (trailering equipment included) 4,500 lbs

The trailering equipment adds a 7-pin harness, trailer sway control and Hitch Guidance, plus heavy-duty cooling with the V6. See how the Blazer compares with other Chevys on our Chevy towing capacity chart.

Seating and Cargo Space

2025 vs 2026 Blazer: What Changed?

Engine outputs, the 9-speed automatic, the 4,500-lb max towing rating, cargo space and exterior length, width and height are unchanged. Comparing Chevrolet’s 2025 and 2026 pages and configurators, the 2026 brings:

  • A simpler lineup: 2LT, 3LT and RS, with the Premier dropped
  • The 2.0L turbo standard on every trim, including the RS, with the V6 now an RS-only option
  • A $1,300 lower starting price on the 2LT, and Rear Park Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Side Blind Zone Alert standard on it
  • A standard black two-tone roof on the RS
  • A $1,995 destination charge, up from $1,495

GM has said its Spring Hill, Tennessee, plant will begin building the gas Blazer in 2027, but Chevrolet has not released any 2027 Blazer details. The 2026 is the newest Blazer on sale.

If you are considering going electric, the 2027 Chevy Blazer EV starts at $45,000 for the LT (plus $1,795 destination) and is EPA-rated at up to 312 miles of range with FWD. It adds a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google built-in and available Super Cruise. The gas Blazer costs less to start, refuels in minutes on road trips and offers a V6 that tows 4,500 lbs.
