Chevy Blazer EV vs Tesla Model Y: 2027 Blazer EV vs Tesla Model Y Compared
Last updated: October 19, 2026 | Emich Chevrolet, Lakewood | Specs from each manufacturer
The Chevy Blazer EV and Tesla Model Y are electric SUVs that seat five (the Model Y Premium AWD offers up to seven seats), but they take different approaches. The Blazer EV is the larger vehicle, with more ground clearance and available hands-free Super Cruise; the Model Y leads on range, efficiency and peak charging rate. Here is the 2027 Blazer EV against the Model Y versions closest in price, using each manufacturer’s published specs.

Quick Verdict
The 2027 Blazer EV LT starts at $45,000 with FWD, $990 less than the Model Y Premium RWD ($45,990), and $48,000 with AWD, $1,990 less than the Premium AWD. The Blazer EV is longer, has more ground clearance (8.0 vs 6.6 in.) and a bigger touchscreen, and offers hands-free Super Cruise at extra cost. The Model Y Premium goes farther (355 vs 312 miles), charges at up to 250 kW vs 150 kW, tows more (3,500 vs 1,500 lbs) and has a longer warranty. The base Model Y RWD ($39,990) and AWD ($41,990) start lower still.

The Matchup: Size and Super Cruise vs Range and Efficiency
The 2027 Blazer EV gets a native NACS charge port, so it can use Tesla Superchargers without an adapter. Emich’s current stock is the 2026 Blazer EV LT, which uses a CCS1 port and needs an adapter for Superchargers. Tesla does not show a model year on its site, so this page uses the Model Y versions and prices Tesla listed for a Denver delivery on October 19, 2026.
The Blazer EV LT and RS use an 85 kWh battery with a 220-hp front motor (FWD) or a 300-hp dual-motor AWD system, and the SS makes 615 hp with Wide Open Watts. Tesla sells the Model Y as RWD, AWD, Premium RWD, Premium AWD and Performance versions, plus the longer Model Y L Premium, and publishes no horsepower or battery size, so this page compares range, charging and equipment instead.
The Blazer EV is the bigger SUV: 192.2 inches long on a 121.8-inch wheelbase vs 188.6 and 113.8 for the Model Y Premium, with 8.0 inches of ground clearance vs 6.6. The Model Y uses its space well, with 29.0 vs 25.5 cu ft behind the rear seat, 71.4 vs 59.1 with the seat folded, a 4.1 cu ft front trunk and 40.5 vs 38.9 inches of rear legroom. The Blazer EV has no front trunk.

Tesla prices exclude its $1,390 destination fee and $250 order fee, and Tesla does not state that its cargo figures are SAE measurements. Performance: Blazer EV SS vs Model Y Performance
The Blazer EV SS ($60,700) has 615 hp and 650 lb-ft with Wide Open Watts mode, and GM estimates 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds (closed course, based on initial vehicle movement). Its 102 kWh battery gives an EPA-rated 302 miles and accepts up to 190 kW of DC fast charging, and Brembo brakes and Super Cruise are standard. The SS is not rated to tow.
The Model Y Performance costs less, at $57,990, and Tesla lists 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, a 155-mph top speed and 306 miles of range; it does not publish horsepower. On paper the two are a tenth of a second apart to 60 mph, though the makers’ test methods may differ. The SS adds standard hands-free Super Cruise, while the Performance can tow up to 3,500 lbs with Tesla’s tow hitch.
Driver Assistance: Super Cruise vs FSD (Supervised)
Super Cruise is hands-free driver assistance, and drivers must still pay attention to the road. It is standard on the SS. On the LT it adds $6,290 in total (the $3,795 Super Cruise Package plus the required $2,495 Comfort and Convenience Package), and on the RS $5,190 (with the required $1,395 RS Convenience and Driver Confidence Package); the package also adds Bose audio and Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist. The plan is included for three years, then GM charges for a plan starting at $39.99 a month. On the LT and RS, Super Cruise also works while towing, with its lane-change features turned off.
Tesla offers Full Self-Driving (Supervised) as a $99 monthly subscription after a one-month trial. Tesla says it requires active driver supervision and does not make the vehicle autonomous, and a cabin camera monitors driver attentiveness.

Interior and Technology

Every Blazer EV has a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, which requires a service plan, and an 11-inch driver display. Chevrolet does not list Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for the Blazer EV. A head-up display comes in an RS package and is standard on the SS. The Model Y has a 16-inch center screen, and Premium and Performance models add an 8-inch rear screen.
Chevy Safety Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and HD Surround Vision are standard on every Blazer EV, and Tesla lists automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure avoidance and blind spot monitoring as standard. NHTSA gave the 2026 Blazer EV AWD five stars overall and has not rated the 2027 Blazer EV yet. The Model Y has five-star overall ratings for 2026 and 2027, and IIHS named the 2027 Model Y a 2026 TOP SAFETY PICK+; the Blazer EV has no IIHS award.
The Bottom Line
If range, peak charging rate, towing or a lower entry price come first, the Model Y is the stronger pick, and the base RWD at $39,990 undercuts every Blazer EV. If you want a bigger SUV with more ground clearance and a 17.7-inch screen, the Blazer EV LT costs less than the closest Model Y Premium, and hands-free Super Cruise is available at extra cost (standard on the SS). Does either qualify for an EV tax credit?
The federal clean vehicle credit is not available for new EVs acquired after Sept. 30, 2025, for any brand. Colorado’s 2026 tax-year credit is $750 for a qualifying new EV with an MSRP up to $80,000.
