Every 2027 Equinox EV has an 85 kWh battery and more than 300 miles of EPA-estimated range. Chevrolet calls it “America’s most affordable 315+ mile range compact SUV EV,” based on the MSRP of the 2027 Equinox EV LT compared with competing EVs. One Pedal Driving and Regen on Demand are standard, and Chevrolet says the 2026 model has a heat pump.

Charging at Home and on the Road

Blue Chevy Equinox EV plugged in at a public fast charger
At home. Every Equinox EV comes with a Dual Level Charge Cord. Plug it into a standard 120-volt three-prong outlet for slow Level 1 charging, or switch ends to plug into a 240-volt NEMA 14-50 outlet and charge at up to 7.7 kW. For the fastest home charging, the 11.5 kW onboard charger works with a professionally installed 48-amp Level 2 station (sold separately). The EPA estimates about 9.5 hours for a full charge at 240 volts.
On the road. Chevrolet says the 2027 Equinox EV can add up to 80 miles of range in about 10 minutes at a public DC fast charger, and that the 2026 charges from 10% to 80% in approximately 42 minutes at up to 150 kW. Actual times vary with the charger, battery temperature and state of charge. The 2027’s NACS port plugs straight into Tesla Superchargers, and Plug & Charge through the myChevrolet app’s Energy Pass starts a session automatically at compatible stations.
Home backup. Vehicle-to-home capability is standard. With the GM Energy PowerShift Charger and V2H Enablement Kit (sold separately), the Equinox EV can power a properly equipped home during an outage.

Is AWD Worth It on the Equinox EV?

AWD adds a second motor for $3,300, raising output from 220 hp and 243 lb-ft to 300 hp and 355 lb-ft. It costs some range: 307 miles vs 319 with FWD. For Denver drivers who head into the mountains in winter or want more power, AWD is the pick; for mostly city and highway commuting, FWD gives you more range for less money. Either way, consider winter tires for snow and ice.

Seating and Cargo Space

The Equinox EV seats five, with 38.0 inches of rear legroom. Cargo space is 26.4 cu ft behind the rear seat and 57.2 cu ft with it folded, with a dual-height cargo floor; Chevrolet does not list a front trunk. It is 190.6 inches long on a 116.3-inch wheelbase, with 6.4 inches of ground clearance. It is rated to tow up to 1,500 lbs, and a factory hitch is offered on the LT 2 and RS.

Technology and Super Cruise

Chevy Equinox EV dashboard and touchscreen

  • 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google built-in (navigation, connected apps and the Google Gemini assistant; select service plan required) and an 11-inch driver display on every trim. Chevrolet says the touchscreen is the largest among EVs in its class, based on its latest available competitive data.
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not offered.
  • Head-up display available on the LT 2 and RS; Bose eight-speaker audio new for 2027 with the Super Cruise package.
  • Wireless charging standard on the LT 2 and RS.
  • OnStar Basics standard for 8 years.

Super Cruise. GM’s hands-free driver assistance is available on the LT 2 and RS through Active Safety Package 3 ($3,945), which requires Convenience Package II, for a total of $7,045 on the LT 2 and $6,440 on the RS. It includes three years of OnStar One with Super Cruise; after that, GM says plans start at $39.99 a month. It works on compatible roads and supports hands-free driving while towing, though GM says Turn Signal Activated Lane Change and Automatic Lane Change are not available while trailering. It is not offered on the LT 1.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Every 2027 Equinox EV has Chevy Safety Assist (Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, IntelliBeam and a Following Distance Indicator), plus Adaptive Cruise Control, Enhanced and Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Reverse Automatic Braking and Rear Park Assist. HD Surround Vision is standard on the LT 2 and RS. NHTSA gave the 2026 Equinox EV a five-star overall rating with FWD or AWD and has not rated the 2027 yet.

Colors. 2027 colors are White Sands (new), Summit White (LT 1, LT 2), Black, Riptide Blue Metallic (LT 1, LT 2), Sterling Gray Metallic, Habanero Orange (RS), Radiant Red Tintcoat ($495) and Polar White Tricoat (RS, $995).

EV Tax Credits in Colorado

The federal clean vehicle tax credit is not available for new EVs acquired after September 30, 2025, according to the IRS. Colorado’s Innovative Motor Vehicle Credit for the 2026 tax year is $750 for the purchase or lease (two years or longer) of a qualifying new EV with an MSRP up to $80,000, titled and registered in Colorado, and you can assign it to the dealer at signing. Colorado’s Department of Revenue allows an additional $2,500 when the MSRP is under $35,000; MSRP for this test excludes destination but includes factory options, so an Equinox EV LT 1 FWD with no factory options ($34,995) may qualify. Confirm eligibility with the Department of Revenue or a tax professional. See our Colorado EV tax credit guide.

2026 vs 2027 Equinox EV: What Changed?

  • A built-in NACS charge port for Tesla Superchargers (2026 models use a CCS1 port and a GM-approved adapter)
  • LT 2 and RS prices up $300; LT 1 unchanged
  • Bose audio available with the Super Cruise package; the package price rose to $3,945
  • The 2026 RS AWD’s optional 19.2 kW onboard charger was dropped
  • New White Sands paint

Motors, range, battery, size, cargo, towing, safety features and warranty are unchanged.

Equinox EV or Gas Equinox?

The gas 2027 Chevy Equinox starts at $29,300 (plus $1,995 destination), refuels in minutes and offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Equinox EV costs more up front but adds more power, a larger screen, available Super Cruise and the ability to charge at home. If you can charge at home, compare your expected energy costs; the EPA estimates $700 a year in fuel for the FWD Equinox EV.
