An RST Performance Edition, available on the RST 4WD, adds a 433-hp version of the 6.2L V8, Chevrolet Performance intake and exhaust, and Brembo front brakes.

Engines and Fuel Economy

Engine Power Availability EPA mpg, 2WD / 4WD (city/hwy)
5.3L V8 355 hp / 383 lb-ft Standard on LS, LT, RST, Z71 and Premier 15/20 / 15/19
6.2L V8 420 hp / 460 lb-ft Standard on High Country; available on RST, Z71 and Premier 15/20 / 14/18
3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel 305 hp / 495 lb-ft Available on LT, RST, Z71, Premier and High Country 22/26 / 20/24

Sources: chevrolet.com, Build & Price and fueleconomy.gov. Ratings are identical for 2026 and 2027. Every engine uses a 10-speed automatic. The 6.2L V8 requires premium fuel.

The Duramax is the efficiency pick: Chevrolet says its fuel economy is best in class, and it gives the Tahoe up to 624 miles of EPA-estimated highway range in 2WD. Its turbocharged torque also holds up well at Colorado elevation. For 2027, Super Cruise is available with the Duramax for the first time. The 6.2L V8 is the performance choice, and the 5.3L V8 is the value choice with the highest tow rating.

Tahoe Towing Capacity

The Tahoe tows up to 8,400 lbs, the most of any Chevy SUV, with the 5.3L V8, 2WD and the Max Trailering Package. Trailering equipment, trailer sway control, Hitch Guidance and external engine and transmission oil coolers are standard on every trim.

Engine 2WD 4WD
5.3L V8 7,900 lbs 7,700 lbs
5.3L V8 + Max Trailering Package 8,400 lbs 8,200 lbs
6.2L V8 7,700 lbs 7,600 lbs
6.2L V8 + Max Trailering Package 8,200 lbs 8,100 lbs
3.0L Duramax 8,200 lbs 7,900 lbs

Sources: 2026 Chevrolet Trailering Guide and chevrolet.com; ratings are unchanged for 2027. With the Max Trailering Package, the 4WD Duramax is listed at 8,000 lbs in the trailering guide and 7,900 lbs in Build & Price.

The Max Trailering Package adds an integrated trailer brake controller, an enhanced cooling radiator and the Advanced Trailering Package with Blind Zone Steering Assist with Trailering, Hitch View and a Smart Trailer Integration Indicator; on most 4WD trims it also adds a two-speed transfer case and hill descent control. Super Cruise can also be used while trailering on compatible roads. To compare the Tahoe with the Suburban, Silverado and other Chevys, see our Chevy towing capacity chart.

Seating and Cargo Space

The Tahoe seats eight as standard, with captain’s chairs for seven available on LT, RST and Z71 and standard on Premier and High Country, and a front bench for nine available on the LS. Legroom is 44.5 inches in the first row, 42.0 inches in the second and 34.9 inches in the third.

Cargo area Tahoe
Behind the third row 25.5 cu ft
Behind the second row 72.5 cu ft
Behind the first row (rows two and three folded) 122.7 cu ft

Source: chevrolet.com Build & Price (identical for 2026 and 2027).

The Tahoe is 211.3 inches long on a 120.9-inch wheelbase. If you need more room behind the third row, the longer Chevy Suburban is the step up; our Tahoe vs Suburban guide compares the two.

Tahoe Z71: The Off-Road Tahoe

The Z71 is 4WD only, with a two-speed transfer case, hill descent control, front and rear skid plates, red recovery hooks, a high-approach front fascia, 20-inch all-terrain tires, a heavy-duty air filter and black assist steps. The available Off-Road Capability Package adds Magnetic Ride Control, Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, which can raise the body for extra clearance off-road, and an electronic limited-slip differential. A Z71 Off-Road Package bundles that with the Max Trailering Package.

Technology and Super Cruise

Chevy Tahoe dashboard with the 17.7-inch touchscreen

  • 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google built-in on every trim, which Chevrolet calls best in class, plus an 11-inch digital driver display.
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard; the Google Gemini assistant is available on 2027 models.
  • 15-inch head-up display standard on High Country and available on LT, RST, Z71 and Premier.
  • Super Cruise hands-free driving on compatible roads, available on LT, RST, Premier and High Country with three years of service included, and now available with the Duramax for 2027.
  • Rear Seat Media System with dual 12.6-inch screens, available on RST, Z71, Premier and High Country.
  • OnStar Basics standard for eight years.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The 2027 Tahoe comes standard with a long list of safety and driver-assistance features on every trim, including Enhanced and Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Reverse Automatic Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist and HD Surround Vision. NHTSA gave the 2026 Tahoe a five-star overall rating and has not rated the 2027 Tahoe yet.

Colors. 2027 Tahoe colors include Black, Sterling Gray Metallic, Summit White, the new White Sands, Radiant Red Tintcoat and Dark Ash Metallic, with availability varying by trim.

2026 vs 2027 Tahoe: What Changed?

Not much under the skin. Engines, towing, cargo space, dimensions, screens, EPA ratings and warranty are the same. Comparing Chevrolet’s 2026 and 2027 pages and configurators, the 2027 brings:

  • Prices up $800 on most trims, $1,200 on the RST and $3,800 on the High Country, which is now 4WD only ($800 more comparing 4WD to 4WD)
  • Super Cruise available with the Duramax diesel, and the Google Gemini assistant
  • Heated and ventilated front seats standard on the RST
  • A High Country that is 4WD only
  • White Sands added to the palette, with Lakeshore Blue and Cypress Gray dropped

Because the changes are small, a 2026 Tahoe with current offers can be a strong value if one on our lot matches what you want.
